Show me Tell me OverviewThis page unravels the "show me tell me" test It's not as difficult as you might imagine Examiners are not going to try and trick you Nobody wants to do this in any great detail in the middle of a thunderstorm! The full list of questions and answers are linked at the bottom of this page At the start of your driving test you'll be asked two questions about possible vehicle checks you would carry out You'll be asked both "Tell me" and "Show me" Lets start: Q. Tell me how you would check that the power steering is working before starting a journey A. If the steering becomes heavy the system may not be working properly. Before starting a journey two simple checks can be made. Gentle pressure on the steering wheel, whilst the engine is running, should result is a slight but noticeable movement as the system begins to operate
A. Alternatively, turning the wheel just after moving off will give an immediate indication
that the power assistance is functioning |

POWER PetrolHave you got any? Have you ever put fuel in your car? OilCheck when your engine is cold. Ask your Instructor to show you where the oil goes WaterCheck radiator when your engine is cold. Remember your water washer reservoir! ElectricAre your lights working properly? Ask your Instructor how to check your lights RubberAre you tyres properly inflated (check them when they are cold) Are there any stones or nails stuck in them? No cuts or bulges and you must have a minimum tread of 1.6mm across three quarters of the tyre and around the edge of the tyre |
