New Driver Act  and Probationary Licences


The probationary licence applies to all new drivers regardless of age

  • You only have 6 available points within the first two years of a full licence
  • That's caught twice by a speed camera
  • If you collect 6 points within the first two years you'll have to take another driving test
  • You'll also have to take the theory test again if your certificate has expired
  • You'll have to drive on L plates under supervision
  • You're Insurance costs will probably increase
